ABOUT AUCTORITAS
Leadership That Extends
Beyond Authority
Auctoritas Leadership Group was created to help healthcare leaders make one of the most consequential transitions in their careers, from being recognized for what they know and accomplish individually to creating impact through the people, teams, and organizations they lead.
The Story Behind Auctoritas
A title may confer authority. Influence has to be earned.
Auctoritas Leadership Group grew from a recurring reality in healthcare: the expertise that earns someone a leadership opportunity is not always the same expertise required to succeed once they have it.
Physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals are often promoted because they are respected clinicians, trusted colleagues, strong operators, or recognized problem solvers. But leadership introduces a different set of demands—navigating competing priorities, influencing across disciplines, leading difficult conversations, managing complexity, and creating results through people rather than individual expertise alone.
That distinction became increasingly clear throughout founder Erin Wright’s own progression from frontline physician to medical director and regional executive leadership. The greater the scope of responsibility, the more leadership depended not on title alone, but on judgment, credibility, relationships, communication, and the ability to influence without relying on positional authority.
Auctoritas was created to help healthcare leaders make that transition deliberately.
The name comes from the Latin concept of auctoritas—authority rooted not simply in position or power, but in credibility, character, judgment, and earned influence. It captures the kind of leadership this firm exists to develop: leadership that remains effective even when the title itself is not enough.
OUR PHILOSOPHY
Leadership is Developed in the Work
Leadership development should do more than increase self-awareness or add new concepts. It should change how a leader thinks, communicates, makes decisions, navigates complexity, and creates results through others.
At Auctoritas, development is grounded in the realities leaders are facing now—using reflection, coaching, and practical application to build capabilities that endure beyond a single role or title.
Earned Influence
Authority may come with a role. Influence develops through credibility, judgment, consistency, and trust. The strongest leaders build the capacity to move people and organizations forward even when positional authority is limited.
Context Matters
Healthcare leadership occurs within complex systems, competing priorities, interdependent teams, and real consequences. Development is most valuable when it reflects the environment in which leadership is actually practiced.
Applied Development
Insight matters when it changes behavior. Leadership development should connect reflection to real decisions, conversations, relationships, and challenges—turning understanding into more effective action.
Sustainable Leadership
Leadership effectiveness should not require sacrificing the person behind the role. Development should strengthen the capabilities, perspective, and self-awareness that support both meaningful impact and longevity in leadership.
MEET THE FOUNDER
Erin Wright, MD, FAAFP
Physician Executive | Healthcare Leader | Executive Coach
Erin Wright, MD, FAAFP, is a board-certified Family Medicine physician, physician executive, and founder of Auctoritas Leadership Group. Her medical career began in 2007 and has spanned frontline clinical care, hospital medicine, medical staff leadership, and increasingly complex regional executive responsibility. She currently serves as a Regional Chief Medical Officer, providing physician and organizational leadership across multiple hospitals while continuing to work at the intersection of clinical quality, operations, physician engagement, and executive strategy.
Her path into leadership was shaped not by leaving clinical medicine behind, but by repeatedly stepping into situations that required something beyond clinical expertise. From leading hospital medicine programs through growth and operational change to developing physician leaders, navigating medical staff dynamics, and working alongside senior hospital executives, she came to understand that the skills that make someone an excellent clinician are only part of what makes them an effective leader. Credibility may create an opportunity to lead but sustained influence requires judgment, communication, relationships, adaptability, and the ability to create results through others.
Throughout her career, Erin has been particularly drawn to leaders in transition; physicians and other healthcare professionals taking on their first formal leadership roles, experienced leaders expanding their scope, and women navigating increasingly complex positions of influence. Her leadership style emphasizes clarity, accountability, practical problem solving, and the development of trust across disciplines and organizational boundaries.
She founded Auctoritas Leadership Group to bring that perspective into deliberate leadership development. Her approach combines firsthand executive experience with structured coaching, reflection, and application to real leadership challenges. The goal is not simply to help leaders advance to the next title, but to help them become more effective, influential, and sustainable once the responsibility arrives.
